Despite the simple art of Gyarados screaming its rage out, this card is the perfect interpretation of Gyarados, even if he is a little bit shorter than usual

This white creature is amazingly annoying (and you know that's enough for some players!), and with any sort of blink this bird rogue becomes a serious control tool: Plotting a card from the stack can deal with uncounterable spells, and any counterspell you plot becomes effectively useless (since they don't work at sorcery speed!)

It was also the first expansion in quite a while to heavily feature Generation 1 Pokmon, so it became an instant classic

It brought us new Illustration Rare promos for the Kanto, Sinnoh, and Alola starters

The former is stronger overall, while Karumonix lets you play around with poison, which feels like the better flavor to me
